On September 11th, 2001, approximately 3,900 people woke up, expecting a normal day, and passed into eternity. Some were "just visiting" that day, spiritually. Some had probably never made a decision to accept Christ as their personal Savior and Lord. And for them, that was the last day they had to make their choice. I'm sure some made last minute decisions, at least I hope so.
What does that mean for the victims that died that day? For the ones who personally knew Christ as their Lord and Savior, it means they went home to be with God.
For those that had never made their choice, it is now too late. They are now in Hades (Sheol in the Greek) awaiting resurrection to the great "White Throne Judgment", at which time they will be judged exclusively for their "works" and how well they had kept God's commandments, to find out where they will spend eternity. And to gain heaven by our own works or merit means we have to be as perfect and holy as God.
And THAT means? It means that they will be going into the lake of fire, created for Satan and his angels. WHAT?? You mean God is sending most of them to hell? Nope. God has already stated in His Word that it is not His will that any should perish. "But, then why are they going to the lake of fire?" Because God has given us "free will." That means WE have to CHOOSE! If you don't choose, you automatically belong to Satan. Satan is the father of lies, and a liar from the beginning. As Satan was the first to sin, and enticed man (and woman) to sin, now all men (and women) are born already in sin. So he gets you by default.
"But I don't want to belong to Satan!" GREAT! But YOU have to make the choice. God has left it up to you. Only YOU can choose to accept and follow Christ (the ONLY way to God) or stay with your father the devil. Satan is what you end up with if you don't CONSCIOUSLY kneel and pray and choose Christ.
Let me quote God on this subject: John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man (or woman!) cometh unto the Father, but by me.
"But, that means..." "But you're saying..." Nope. I'M not saying anything. I'm telling you what HE said. If you don't like it, talk to Him.
Some people think they have 50, 60, or 70 years to decide. I had a memorial to the victims going on the site for awhile, and if memory serves me correct, the youngest to die was 7, the average age was in the 20's and 30's. The point? The point is, just as they didn't expect to die that day, you don't expect to die today. They were wrong. Maybe you aren't. Maybe you WILL live for another 30 years. But what then? One thing I do guarantee you, You WILL die. And you WILL appear before God, whether you believe in Him or not. And at that point, there will STILL be ONE way to heaven, and that will STILL be Jesus Christ.
More of a gamble than I would care to take, myself. And worst of all, even if you had managed to live your life without ever hearing this message, you just read it. So you can't even claim ignorance of the law.
